Owning a self-cleaning pool means you get more time to enjoy it and less time worrying about maintenance — but it’s not entirely “set and forget.” To keep your pool in top condition year-round, a little regular attention goes a long way.

What to Expect:

Water Testing:

Even with a self-cleaning system, your pool water should be professionally tested every 4–6 weeks (more often in peak swimming season). This ensures the water chemistry stays perfectly balanced for swimmer comfort, equipment longevity, and that sparkling finish.

Chemical Adjustments:

Based on test results, you may need to top up chlorine, adjust pH, or add other balancing agents. Self-cleaning systems maintain cleanliness, but water balance is still key.

Equipment Checks:

Inspect your filtration, chlorination, and circulation systems periodically to ensure everything is running efficiently. This includes checking self-cleaning jets, pumps, and filters.

Seasonal Considerations:

  • Summer: Monitor more frequently due to higher usage, warmer temperatures, and increased chlorine demand.
  • Winter: Extend testing intervals but keep systems running to prevent water stagnation and protect equipment.

General Upkeep:

Skim the surface for leaves or debris after storms, empty skimmer baskets, and give the pool area a quick tidy when needed.

In Short: Your self-cleaning pool does most of the hard work, but regular testing, occasional chemical adjustments, and seasonal checks will keep it looking amazing and performing at its best for years to come.
