Once your pool is in the ground, it is there forever so it pays to carefully consider what shape and size will suit you best. Start by thinking about how you intend to use the pool; is it a relaxation zone, a family fun zone or somewhere to exercise? Do you need extra seating or room to play? It also pays to consider who will be using the pool, for example if you have a range of heights or skill levels then you may be best to choose a pool which runs shallow to deep. Don’t forget to think about the future, the next people to own your house might be put off by an extra deep pool. Last but not least, consider style; over the years straight lined/symmetrical pools have remained in hot demand while free-form shapes go in and out of fashion.

QUICK READ

  • Straight lines and symmetrical designs tend to remain popular over the years whilst free-form designs often go in and out of fashion.
  • Shallow-to-deep pools offer something for everyone.
  • Consider who will be using the pool and how – what features would suit them best.
  • The shape you choose can impact on the future value of your home – consider future buyers if you aim to add value to your home.
